Work03:00Round 1 of 12

The standard boxing round format — three minutes of work followed by one minute of rest — is one of the most physiologically precise training intervals in combat sports. The 3:1 work-to-rest ratio closely matches the energy system demands of a real boxing match, where bouts consist of three-minute rounds with one minute of recovery at ringside. This ratio challenges both the aerobic and alactic (ATP-PC) energy systems, building the punch endurance and recovery capacity that fighters need to perform at the end of a grueling 10- or 12-round fight. Training with a proper boxing timer develops mental toughness alongside physical conditioning: the discipline of working the full three minutes, even when fatigued, and the mental reset of knowing rest is only one minute long are skills that transfer directly to competition. Boxing round timers are used beyond traditional boxing — they are standard in Muay Thai, kickboxing, MMA, and boxing-inspired fitness classes. The format works equally well for heavy bag sessions, shadow boxing, pad work, sparring, and circuit-based conditioning workouts targeting power, footwork, and head movement.

Choose a preset workout (Tabata, HIIT, boxing rounds, etc.) or set your own work time, rest time, and round count using the custom fields. Your settings are saved between sessions.

  2. 2

Click Start. The timer counts down the work interval with a color indicator, then automatically switches to the rest period with an audio cue. Round progress is displayed throughout.

  3. 3

The timer advances through all rounds automatically. When the final round is complete, a finish sound plays and your total workout is done. Use the Reset button to run it again or adjust your settings.
