Frequently Asked Questions

Can I trim video online for free?

Yes. Zolkit trims and splits video in your browser and exports MP4 files without uploading your video. There is no watermark, account requirement, or server-side processing queue.

What is the difference between trimming, cutting, and clipping video?

Trimming usually removes time from the beginning or end. Cutting can mean removing or extracting a section. Clipping usually means saving a short segment from a longer video. This tool supports trimming a time range and exporting it as a clip.

Can I split one video into multiple parts?

Yes. Switch to Split mode and choose 2 to 6 parts. Zolkit divides the video into equal segments and gives you a separate MP4 download for each part.

Can I trim an MP4 file?

Yes. MP4 is the best supported input and output format. You can also upload MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM, WMV, and many other common containers, but the exported clips are MP4.

Can I trim or download a YouTube video?

Zolkit does not download videos from YouTube or other third-party platforms and does not convert YouTube to MP3 or MP4. Use this tool with video files you own or have permission to edit by uploading the local file from your device.

Will trimming reduce video quality?

Trimming with frame-accurate preview requires re-encoding the output. High quality preserves more detail, Balanced is the best default, and Smaller creates a lighter file with more compression.
