EMOM — Every Minute on the Minute — is a structured training format in which athletes begin a fixed set of repetitions at the start of each minute, then rest for the remaining time within that minute before the next round begins. If the prescribed work takes 35 seconds, the athlete recovers for 25 seconds before the clock signals the next round. This built-in rest mechanic makes EMOM one of the most intelligent training formats for developing both strength and conditioning simultaneously. The faster and more efficiently an athlete moves, the more rest they earn, which incentivizes good movement mechanics and speed. EMOM workouts are particularly effective for Olympic weightlifting skill development (e.g., one snatch every minute for 10 minutes), barbell cycling, and gymnastics practice. They are also widely used in strength programming — performing a heavy squat single every minute for 8–12 minutes maintains near-maximal loading while keeping cumulative fatigue manageable. Coaches can scale the difficulty of an EMOM by adjusting rep counts: if athletes consistently finish in under 30 seconds, add reps. If athletes are regularly failing to finish before the next minute, reduce reps or load.

How to Use the Interval Timer

    Choose a preset workout (Tabata, HIIT, boxing rounds, etc.) or set your own work time, rest time, and round count using the custom fields. Your settings are saved between sessions.

    Click Start. The timer counts down the work interval with a color indicator, then automatically switches to the rest period with an audio cue. Round progress is displayed throughout.

    The timer advances through all rounds automatically. When the final round is complete, a finish sound plays and your total workout is done. Use the Reset button to run it again or adjust your settings.
